Admirals point streak ended in Cleveland
CLEVELAND, OH -- Daniel Zaar scored two goals to lead the Cleveland Monsters to a 4-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Friday at Quicken Loans Arena.
The loss ended Milwaukee’s points streak at 11 games (9-0-2-0). It was the Admirals first loss in regulation since Oct. 29 and its first in regulation on the road since Oct. 28.
Admirals forward Adam Payerl spoiled the shutout bid from Monsters goalie Joonas Korpisalo when he jammed the puck into the net with 7:44 to play in the third period. Harry Zolnierczyk picked up the lone assist.
Cleveland got on the board first as they converted a turnover from behind the Admirals goal. T.J. Tynan intercepted a pass and fed Zaar, who was all alone in front of the net, for the one-timed goal at 4:56 of the first period.
Zaar scored a power play goal at 18:22 of the first period to give the Monsters a 2-0 advantage. Zaar was, again, alone in front of the net and received a pass from the left wing boards from Ryan Craig for the conversion.
Cleveland defenseman Jaime Sifers’ shot from the point found the back of the net at 13:39 of the second period to stretch the Monsters lead to 3-0.
Monsters forward Oliver Bjorkstrand added an empty-net goal to complete the scoring at 17:50 of the third period.
The Admirals and Monsters play in Cleveland again Sat., Dec. 3. Milwaukee returns home Sat., Dec. 10 to host the Chicago Wolves at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
