Admirals tripped up by Griffins, lose 4th straight
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Admirals lost for the fourth consecutive game as they dropped a 4-0 decision to the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Petr Mrazek turned aside all 24 Milwaukee shots on the night as the Ads were blanked for the third time this season.
Grand Rapids got all the scoring they would need when Scott Czarnowczan made a pass from the left red dot to Marek Tvrdon. Tvrdon positioned himself right in front of the goal and was able to fire his 7th goal of the season past Marek Mazanec with 3:39 left in the first period to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead.
The second period was a defensive struggle with neither team scoring a goal despite multiple chances, including a pair of power-play chances for Milwaukee.
Grand Rapids extended their lead to 2-0 when the Ads turned over the puck and allowed their 7th shorty of the season scored by the Griffins Tomas Nosek at 4:34 in the third period.
The Griffins went up 3-0 when Xavier Ouellet made a pass from deep in his zone to Jeff Hoggan who was all alone in the Admirals zone and fired one past Mazanec at 11:08 in the third period for his 8th goal of he year.
Grand Rapids Iced the game when Landon Ferraro scored his 22nd goal of the season on an empty netter with 1:12 to play in the third period.
The Admirals will go on the road for two starting in Chicago on Sunday March 1st at 3pm before heading to Lake Erie on Wednesday March 4th to play the Monsters at 6pm. The Ads will return home on Friday March 6th at 7:00pm to play Grand Rapids at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
