Admirals winning streak snapped with 5-0 loss to Griffins

MILWAUKEE -- All good things must come to an end.

The Admirals learned that the hard way Friday night as they saw their team-record 10-game winning streak halted by the Grand Rapids Griffins by a 5-0 score at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

It was the first loss for Milwaukee since Halloween night and it also ended their 11-game point streak.

It was also the first time this season that Viktor Arvidsson didn't find the scoresheet for Milwaukee, ending his 13-game point-streak which was the best in the AHL this year.

For the first time since October 29 the Admirals found themselves trailing by two as Grand Rapids scored a pair of first period goals. Andy Miele earned the first tally at 13:31 and then assisted on Eric Tangradi's power-play tally with only 1:20 remaining in the period.

Miele got another at 4:20 of the second to push the Grand Rapids lead to 3-0.

Third period goals by Mitch Callahan, Dan Cleary, and Marc-Andre Aubry sealed the Admirals fate and brought the score to 6-0.

Marek Mazanec, who had given up just four goals in his previous three starts combined, stopped 25 shots in the loss.

Milwaukee will try to start a new winning streak Saturday night when they host the Rockford IceHogs at 7 pm at the BMOHBC.
