After 50 years, Badgers band director Mike Leckrone leads his final march

MADISON -- The University of Wisconsin-Madison's marching band on Saturday, Nov. 24 celebrated the end of an era. Band director Mike Leckrone led the marching band for a final time during the Badgers game at Camp Randal.

Kickoff for the matchup vs. the Minnesota Golden Gophers was set for 2:30 p.m.

Leckrone, 82, served as the marching band director since 1969.

UW-Madison shared a photo of Leckrone on Twitter, with a touching caption that read: "Today we celebrate legend Mike Leckrone, directing the in his final game at Camp Randall after 50 years. For all this, we say,'Thanks, Mike!'"

Leckrone made the announcement back in August.
