GREEN BAY -- After an early "bye week" during week four of the NFL's regular season -- the Green Bay Packers are back home at Lambeau Field this Sunday, October 9th to take on the New York Giants.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
This season was the second time in four years that the Packers had a bye in week four. In 2013, Green Bay also played at home after the bye, beating Detroit, 22-9.
According to Packers.com, Sunday's game marks the third year in a row that Green Bay has played a Sunday Night Football game in the week after the bye. The Packers have won seven of the last eight Sunday Night Football games played at home.
This Sunday's game marks the second of four consecutive home games for the Packers over a five-week span. It's the first time that's happened during a single regular season since 1963!
Dating back to 2006, the Packers (28-9, .757) and Giants (30-10, .750) hold the second- and third-best winning percentages in the month of October, trailing only the New England Patriots (35-7, .833) -- according to Packers.com.
Heading into Sunday's game, the Packers are coming off a win in week three vs. the Detroit Lions.
According to Packers.com, Green Bay’s win over Detroit marked the sixth consecutive game at Lambeau Field the Packers have won when it has led into the bye week. Green Bay has won the game after the bye four of the previous six times it won the game heading into the bye.
As it relates to Packers vs. Giants matchups, the Giants have won the last two regular-season games and the last three games overall, according to Packers.com.
The teams last met on November 17th, 2013 at MetLife Stadium. The Giants won 27-13.
The Giants have a new head coach this season. Ben McAdoo is the Giants 17th head coach -- and he has a connection to the Packers. He coached Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to a passer rating of 106.9 over two seasons (2012 and 2013) as Green Bay's quarterbacks' coach, according to Packers.com.
The Packers and Giants met for the very first time back in 1928. The Giants won, 6-0, but the Packers then won the six of the next seven games.
During that game, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was out for the second of seven games due to his broken collarbone.
New York led wire-to-wire after starting the scoring with a 26-yard TD pass from QB Eli Manning to WR Rueben Randle in the first quarter.
QB Scott Tolzien passed for 339 yards, completing 24 of his 34 attempts (70.6 percent) with three INTs.
The second of Tolzien’s three second-half INTs provided insurance for New York as DE Jason Pierre-Paul returned the pick 24 yards for a TD.
