Amazing Gomez catch saves Brewers 4-3 win over Reds
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Brewers All-Star Carlos Gomez reached over the wall to rob Joey Votto of a potential go-ahead 2-run home run in the 9th inning to preserve Milwaukee's 4-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night at Miller Park.
Gomez has made four home run-saving catches this season; no other player has made more than two.
Jonathan Lucroy's 2-run homer, his 3rd in 3 games and 11th of the season, staked Kyle Lohse (6 2/3rds innings, 3 runs) to a 2-1 lead; All-Star Jean Segura (3 hits) and Rickie Weeks each doubled in runs.
Before the game, Ryan Braun was taken off the disabled list; Aramis Ramirez was put on the D.L. to rest his ailing knee through the All-Star break.
Braun's thumb, which has kept him out of action since June 14th, is much better. He could start Tuesday night's game against Cincinnati.
