Arizona Coyotes' John Scott chosen by fans as NHL All-Star Game captain
NASHVILLE — Arizona Coyotes forward John Scott is among the four captains chosen by fans for the NHL All-Star Game.
Florida forward Jaromir Jagr, Washington forward Alex Ovechkin and Chicago forward Patrick Kane also were announced Saturday as captains for the reformatted All-Star event Jan. 31 at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. One player from each division was selected to lead a team in the three-on-three game.
Scott's improbable selection is the product of a fan campaign to send the journeyman to his first All-Star game. Scott has one assist in 11 games for the Coyotes this season, and the enforcer has been waived three times by Arizona.
Scott has five goals and six assists in 285 career NHL games — and now he will be the captain of the Pacific Division's All-Star team.
