Arrowhead defends state title, winning second consecutive gold ball
MADISON (WITI) -- Three local teams represent the Milwaukee area at the WIAA High School Football state Finals Friday night. Coach Greg Malling led the Arrowhead Warhawks to their second straight Division 1 title, and 6th overall. With that sixth championship Arrowhead moves to second on the all time state list.
They sent the Franklin Sabers home with a sour taste. the Sabers kept pace for most of the game, but late in the third quarter Charlie Reuteman picks off Sean McGuire and takes it all the way to the end zone for a touchdown. Arrowhead wins 45-24.
The Greendale Panthers took on Monona Grove earlier in the day and carried a 17-0 lead into the half. But the Panthers eased up on defense letting the Silver Eagles come all the way back for the win and the Championship Gold Ball. The Panthers fall 21-17.
