Braun wins spot in All-Star game via player ballot
MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun has won a spot in the National League's All-Star game -- after falling short for a spot in the starting outfield via fan voting. Braun made the All-Star team via the player ballot.
Braun will be the Brewers' lone All-Star Game representative, marking the first time since 2005 that Milwaukee is sending only one player to game.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp edged out Braun in the final hours of voting -- for the starting outfield spot, but a starting spot for Braun isn't out of the picture. Kemp is currently on the disabled list (sidelined with a hamstring injury) and the Dodgers say he won't play -- leaving a roster hole.
The All-Star Game is on FOX at 7 p.m. CT on July 10 in Kansas City.
Braun homered twice in Saturday night's 10-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Miller Park.
Braun's two home runs Saturday gave him the National League lead with 22 for the season.
