Brewers fans react to latest Ryan Braun news

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Yahoo Sports reports Brewers slugger Ryan Braun's name appears in documents associated with a clinic accused of providing performance enhancing drugs. Now, many Brewers fans have found themselves questioning whether Braun did anything wrong.

According to Yahoo Sports, Braun's name appears in documents associated with a Miami-based clinic accused of providing MLB players performance-enhancing drugs.

When the news came out on Tuesday evening, Braun issued a statement, denying any wrongdoing.

"During the course of preparing for my successful appeal last year, my attorneys, who were previously familiar with Tony Bosch, used him as a consultant," Braun said in his statement.

Hours later, Brewers fans reacted to the news -- many of them pointing out the reports do not show Braun's name in documents next to specific drugs, unlike other players mentioned in the report.

One legal expert said if Braun's story is true, it should be easy to clear his name.

"There definitely should be a paper trail that would reflect that there was engagement with a consultant," Milwaukee Defense Attorney Frank Gimbel said.

Gimbel says paying for consultants is a common practice and there should be evidence of it.

"It might be as simple as just a letter," Gimbel said.

Inside the TGI Friday's at Miller Park, Brewers fans had mixed reactions.

"He's a hometown boy. I always want to think the best of him," one Brewers fan said.

"It's tough. I mean, everyone looks up to Ryan Braun," another fan told FOX6 News.

Fans said they are hopeful that Braun's story pans out, and said they are sick of the star slugger popping up in ugly headlines.

"As a fan I have to give him the benefit of the doubt.  But you know, strike two, so only one more left," a Brewers fan said.

Braun has said he has nothing to hide and pledged to cooperate with any inquiry into the matter.

Major League Baseball has launched an investigation.
