Brewers lose terrific game to Reds, 2-1
MILWAUKEE -- It goes into the record books as a loss, but it was a terrific game (or maybe games) to see at Miller Park.on Wednesday, May 9th 2-1.
Zack Greinke and Johnny Cueto hooked up in a tremendous pitcher's duel, with there being very little offensive action until there were two outs in the top of the ninth inning.
The Reds put together three straight hits off John Axford to take a two-nothing lead. In the bottom of the ninth, Ryan Braun homered to make it 2-1 and one out later, Corey Hart flied out to the warning track in center field.
The Crew then managed to load the bases on a battling single by Jonathan Lucroy, a bloop single by Norichika Aoki and a walk to George Kottaras. However, Travis Ishikawa then flied out on the first pitch he saw to end the game.
Greinke went eight innings, allowing only two hits and no walks, while striking out 11. The Brewers lose for the first time ever when he started a game at home (20-1 including playoffs), although he was not the pitcher of record. 13 and 18 Milwaukee is now off on Thursday.
