MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- We're just four days away from the official start to the Milwaukee Brewers season. Opening Day is set for Monday, April 6th -- as the Brewers face the Colorado Rockies at Miller Park. Fans are excited baseball is back, and we're sure some will be pumped to try the new food offerings at Miller Park.
Hungry?
You can still buy peanuts and Cracker Jack at Miller Park in 2015, but those weren't on display Thursday, April 2nd as Brewers officials showed off some of the new items being offered this season: brat-chos, street tacos and so much more!
"We want to get three million people here and to do that, we have to accomplish this by bringing different food items, making the experience great, winning baseball," Brewers COO Rick Schlesinger said.
Out of all the new food items at Miller Park in 2015, two seem to be getting the most attention: the 18-inch-long "Down Wisconsin Avenue Brat" and the nachos-on-a-stick. It`s taco meat on a stick crusted in Doritos.
"You know, we`ve introduced different food items, but the attention we`ve gotten for nachos-on-a-stick and the giant Down Wisconsin Avenue Brat has even taken me by surprise," Schlesinger said.
"The brat is a classic ballpark item, and so what we`ve done is how do we enhance that experience? So essentially, you still have the brat. We just made it a little bigger and everything on there -- we started kicking around ideas with the cheese curds, the cheese sauce -- a lot of Wisconsin in that thing!" Jamie Hodgson, general manager of Delaware North Sportservice said.
If that's not enough, the Smoke Shack will dish out its barbecue in a stand along the first base line.
If you somehow find yourself with room for dessert, Holey Moley's doughnut stand will offer doughnuts stuffed with frozen custard!
"And adding toppings for this awesome, super decadent tasty sandwich that really, no one in Milwaukee, no one in Wisconsin has tried!" Joe Sorge, Smoke Shack and Holey Moley owner said.
Holey Moley and the Smoke Shack have teamed up to create the "Ham-Dinger!" It's a doughnut stuffed with smoked ham!
Miller Park will also feature a stand that rotates food items based on the visiting team's city.
The Brewers will also expand on last year's most memorable addition. The "Hank Hangout" features shirts, hats and stuffed toys depicting the league's most adorable unofficial mascot. Twenty percent of proceeds benefit the Wisconsin Humane Society.
Even if you don't buy any Hank gear, you can burn a few calories walking over to check it out!
