Donald Driver makes an appearance at the Admirals game
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Retired Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Donald Driver had a homecoming on ice Friday night. After a busy first week of being officially retired, he was welcomed back to Milwaukee by dropping the ceremonial puck at the Admirals hockey game.
He's been so busy he hadn't even heard of Charles Woodson being released from the Green Bay Packers. When asked about the news he said, "What news? No for real, I'm asking. I haven't heard anything."
Driver said Woodson's presence will be greatly missed in the Packers locker room. But he added, "It gives opportunities for other guys to step up and fill out those shoes."
The fans agreed that Driver and Woodson had a lot in common and both will be greatly missed, especially for their leadership. Gordon Johnson wore his Woodson to the game, he said "He’s a classy guy, kinda like Donald driver, in a way. A good leader in the locker room, I love the guy.”
Though Woodson will likely play for another team, Driver has turned in his cleats for good. And he says one thing he won't be doing is picking up a pair of hockey skates. “I was just saying, that’s one sport, hockey and rugby probably something I would never play. I was in the locker room with the guys and half of them ain’t got teeth in they mouth. One thing I do love is my teeth," Driver joked.
