Friendly wager: Gov. Walker, North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory make offers ahead of Badgers/Duke battle
INDIANAPOLIS (WITI) -- Governors Scott Walker and Pat McCrory offered up a friendly wager Monday, April 6th ahead of Monday night’s NCAA Championship game.
“This is such an incredible moment for all of us here in Wisconsin,” Governor Walker said. “The members of the Badgers men’s basketball team represent Wisconsin so well with their talent, class, personality and great character. Duke is a formidable opponent, but this is Wisconsin’s year to bring home the victory. Make ‘em believe!”
Governor Walker bet an assortment of Wisconsin cheese, sausage and root beer that the Wisconsin Badgers will win, while Governor McCrory wagered North Carolina barbecue, coleslaw, hush puppies and Cheerwine for a Duke victory.
North Carolina Rep. G.K. Butterfield is also putting up some barbecue, along with slaw and iced tea if the Badgers win. Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis., will send cheese and beer if Duke wins.
The Badgers tip off against the Blue Devils Monday night at 8:18 p.m. CT. The game takes place at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
