Goalie Marek Mazanec stopped all 23 shots for fourth straight shutout, Ads beat Wild 2-0
MILWAUKEE -- Marek Mazanec stopped all 23 shots he saw for his fourth shutout of the season to guide the Admirals to a 2-0 win over the Iowa Wild on Sunday night, February 14th at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
It was the third shutout for Mazanec in his past seven starts and moved his winning streak to five games.
Kevin Fiala scored the game-winner, his second in as many games, while Max Reinhart posted an empty netter for his 12 goal of the season.
Fiala broke the scoreless tie at the 12:40 mark of the second period on a wraparound attempt that was originally not called a goal. Played continued for another minute before a stoppage gave the referee a chance to review the play and determined that the puck had crossed just cross the Iowa goal line before hitting the leg pad of Leland Irving.
The score remained that way until Reinhart picked up loose puck in the neutral zone and backhanded it into an empty Iowa net.
The Ads are off on Monday before returning to the BMOHBC on Tuesday night when they host the Charlotte Checkers at 7:00 p.m.
