Gomes goes big, helps Boston tie series at 2
MILWAUKEE (WITI)-- The Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals battled in game 4 of the World Series at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Sunday night.
The game was pretty slow and even until the top of the 6th when Boston's Jonny Gomes broke the 1-1 tie with a 3 run blast to left, scoring Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz.
The Cardinals would try for a comeback in the bottom of the 7th when Matt Carpenter's RBI single scored Shane Robinson, but Boston's relief pitching put up a wall and the Red Sox tie the series 2-2, beating the Cardinals 4-2.
Boston's Clay Buchholz went 4 innings pitched allowing 3 hits and 1 run, but Felix Doubront picks up the win going 2.2 IP allowing just 1 hit and 1 earned run. Cardinals Lance Lynn gets the loss over 5.2 IP with 3 runs on 3 hits.
Game 5 is Monday at 7:07 PM (CT) here on FOX.
