Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy thanks fans for sympathies, outpouring of support
GREEN BAY (AP) — Packers coach Mike McCarthy is thanking friends, fans and the NFL community for their condolences following the death of his brother last week.
McCarthy said in a statement Wednesday that that outpouring of support was overwhelming and appreciated.
“On behalf of the entire McCarthy and Grumbine families, I would like to thank all those who have offered their condolences and support since my brother Joseph passed last week. The outpouring of support we have received from the Pittsburgh and Green Bay communities, the Packers family and fans, as well as the NFL community, has been overwhelming and greatly appreciated. Thank you for the love and respect that you have shown our families, and may God bless you all.”

Joseph McCarthy, 47, died on Jan. 21 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
The McCarthy family is from western Pennsylvania. Mike McCarthy said his family has received sympathies from both the Pittsburgh and Green Bay communities.
The Packers coach has returned to Green Bay. He was scheduled to meet with reporters later Wednesday for a season-ending news conference that was postponed from last week.
