Homestead High School Coach shares tale of beating cancer
MEQUON -- Tony Navarre was a healthy local high school teacher and coach, and one day cancer caused his life took a sudden turn for the worse.
Navarre and his wife feel blessed to have a great marriage and a beautiful daughter. The Navarre family is thankful Tony is still alive after his bout with leukemia.
Tony's wife Molly was his beacon of light while he went through chemo and numerous bone marrow biopsies. The Navarre's were fortunate to find a donor for a bone marrow transplant last December 3rd, but on that day Tony's daughter Adeline suffered a seizure. Somehow the family made it through with more than a little help from their friends.
The Navarre's teach special education at Homestead High School. Students came together for operation Wish Lantern to help defray the family's medical costs. Homestead and Germantown High Schools helped raise funds for the Navarre's during a boy's basketball game.
Now, Adeline is an energetic two year old and her father is healthy and teaching again. In February, the Navarre's will be holding a bone marrow drive. Click here for more information.
