"I'm really happy for him:" Rodgers says Favre's Hall of Fame induction in Canton will be 'really special'

CANTON, Ohio -- The 2016 Green Bay Packers season is officially underway with the start of Training Camp -- and Packers Family Night on Sunday, July 31st. As another Packers season begins, during the week leading up to August 6th -- we'll be looking back at one of the Packers greats. Former QB Brett Favre will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 6th in Canton, Ohio.

Recently, Favre talked about the risk Packers GM Ron Wolf took at the time to get him to Green Bay.

"Wonderful story, you know, of -- in his case, sticking your neck out at a time when you just got a new job for an historic, traditional franchise in the Packers. I mean, boy what a gamble! And I'm forever thankful for that and I know he has said over and over to me how thankful he is. It lucked out obviously," Favre said.

The excitement leading up to Favre's induction in Canton will build all week. FOX6's Ted Perry and FOX6's Tim Van Vooren will be heading to Canton to cover the event.

Brett Favre's wife, Deanna, will introduce him during his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Canton, Ohio on August 6th.

According to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, this is only the second time ever a wife will present her husband at this ceremony.

Favre selected his wife to present him for enshrinement.

“Deanna is the best teammate I’ve ever had. She has been by my side throughout this journey and I’m so excited that she gets to play such an important role for me,” Favre said in a statement posted on the Pro Football Hall of Fame's website.

The only other wife to serve as a presenter was Kim Singletary for her husband Mike in 1998, according to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“Serving as Brett’s presenter is a great honor,” Deanna commented. “I am thrilled to be able share this special moment in time with him.”

Aaron Rodgers

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he's excited for Favre.

"It's exciting for Brett to have his wife, I just saw his wife is going to do the induction speech. That's gotta be a great feeling right there for him -- but it's fun, and to be able to be out there and to see him put that jacket on is going to be really special -- to join the ranks of the greatest players off all time in our sport is pretty amazing and I'm really happy for him," Rodgers said.
