"It was cold" but "it was a good game!" Oconomowoc woman remembers being at the "Ice Bowl"

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- Sunday's playoff matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys brought back some fond memories for some Green Bay Packers players. Patricia Hoff of Oconomowoc says she was in the stands during the famed "Ice Bowl," back in 1967!

Hoff says on December 31st, 1967, she and her husband bundled up and headed to Green Bay.

"It was a thick artificial fur coat, and I had a long one, and I had that one and a couple pairs of slacks and heavy sweatshirts and stuff underneath this coat. It was cold!" Hoff remembers.

Hoff and her husband braved record low temperatures to cheer on the green and gold. On that day, the kickoff temperature was -15° with a -46° wind chill!

"I think we were in the second row and when my husband went up to get a cup of coffee, by the time he got back there were ice crystals on it!" Hoff said.

And if the temperatures weren't uncomfortable enough, Hoff remembers she was eight months pregnant!

Prior to Sunday, January 11th, 2015, that game in 1967 was the last time the Cowboys and Packers met in the post-season at Lambeau Field.

"We stayed the whole time and when Bart Starr made his last touchdown -- he ran for it himself, we were on about the 20-yard-line and that was right in front of us," Hoff said.

Patricia Hoff is now 82 years old. She says she's been a Packers fan all her life, and she says she's grateful to have seen Starr's famous quarterback sneak for a touchdown in the waning seconds of that now infamous game. She says back then, they didn't think twice about the bitter cold. Fans just wanted to have that up close and personal experience at Lambeau Field.

"We just wanted to stay warm and enjoy the game. We enjoyed it. It was a good game," Hoff said.

Hoff says her entire family is made up of big Green Bay Packers fans. While she couldn't make it to Lambeau for Sundays Packers vs. Cowboys matchup, she says her son and grandchildren were there.
