NEW ORLEANS -- The Kentucky Wildcats clawed their way past a game Kansas Jayhawks team on Monday night, 67-59, to win the NCAA Championship game.
John Calipari's first national crown didn't come without a few anxious moments. Bill Self's Kansas squad rallied from an 18-point deficit to a team full of future NBA draft picks.
But in the end, Kentucky did it with defense. Freshman Phenom Anthony Davis scored just six points on 1-of-10 shooting, but he tied a championship game record with six blocked shots and several alters. Davis, selected the Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four, also had 16 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
