Lakeshore Chinooks mascot's name is "Gill"

MILWAUKEE -- The fans have spoken, and the Lakeshore Chinooks mascot has a name. It's "Gill."

The Lakeshore Chinooks are a new baseball franchise playing ball this summer in Southeastern Wisconsin. The team joins the Northwoods League, a summer league for college players.

In March, the Chinooks announced a contest to name the new mascot, and fans submitted nearly 200 different and unique ideas. The field was then narrowed to the top three submissions: Gill, King, and Sammy. There was no runaway winner in the fan vote that followed.  After more than 800 votes, "Gill" was determined to be the winner by a seven vote margin!

The Chinooks will play 70 games this summer; 35 home games at the new Kapco Park. Kapco Park is currently under construction on the campus of Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon and is also home to the CUW Falcons baseball team.
