INDIANAPOLIS — Austin Etherington scored a career-high 18 points to lead five Bulldogs in double figures, and Butler scored its most points in a Big East game this season with a 95-74 rout over Marquette on Saturday.
Etherington's 18 points came on Senior Day in his 112th career game. Roosevelt Jones, Andrew Chrabascz and Kelan Martin scored 15 apiece for Butler (21-9, 10-8) and Kellen Dunham added 12.
The Bulldogs clinched a top-six seed and a bye into Thursday's quarterfinals in the Big East Tournament.
Butler raced to a 20-6 lead, but Marquette's Jajuan Johnson scored seven points in an 11-0 run to cut the Golden Eagles' deficit to three. The Bulldogs recovered, pushed the lead back to double digits and hit four straight 3-pointers to take a 24-point lead with two minutes left in the half.
Henry Ellenson led Marquette (19-12, 8-10) with 29 points and eight rebounds.
Butler shot 56 percent from the field and got 37 points off the bench.
