HAMILTON, ON (WITI) -- Goaltender Magnus Hellberg stopped all 25 shots he saw Sunday afternoon to boost the Milwaukee Admirals past the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-0.
Hellberg won his sixth straight game, and second in as many days, and improved his mark in seven February games to 6-0-0 with a 1.10 goals against average and a save percentage at 95.8%. It was his second shutout of the season.
Juuso Puustinen scored the first goal of the game. Kevin Henderson’s shot from the top of the right circle was blocked by Bulldogs defenseman Nathan Beaulieu. Puustinen picked the puck out of Beaulieu’s skates and snapped a shot just under the crossbar for his ninth goal of the season and 25th in his Admirals career.
Puustinen is one of only 29 players in Admirals AHL history to record 25 career goals.
Chris Mueller added an empty-net goal with 8.3 seconds left in regulation to ice the win. The goal was Mueller’s team-best 17th of the season and was assisted by Victor Bartley.
The Admirals conclude a four-game road trip Tuesday in Cleveland with a 6pm faceoff against the Lake Erie Monsters. Milwaukee returns to the BMO Harris Bradley Center Friday, Mar 1 against Grand Rapids.
