Milwaukee Brewers Opening Day; fans enjoy the return of baseball

The only thing masking the excitement in the air is the sizzle on the grill as Milwaukee Brewers fans gathered to cheer on their beloved team on Brewers Opening Day.

The only thing masking the excitement in the air is the sizzle on the grill as Milwaukee Brewers fans gathered to cheer on their beloved team on Brewers Opening Day.

"Got some brats and hotdogs and shrimp pockets over here," said Brewers fan Jerry Munson.

Brewers fans were in it for the long haul Monday, tailgating for hours on the Brewers Opening Day.

"Gotta love going to Miller Park," said Brewers fan Dawson Walling.

Old habits die hard for Walling, who still calls the stadium Miller Park after the change to American Family Field.

"Being all in one place – cheering for the same team, it’s great," Walling said.

Walling is here with his high school buddies soaking in what could be the last time they’re all at the ballpark together before going their separate ways after graduation. Just don’t tell their teachers.

"This is the first day back from Spring Break," said fan Andrew Siebenlist.

Some people never miss the first game of the season, but for Vickie McNall, it’s about passing down a tradition to her foster daughter Ivy.

"It’s just great to see the excitement and the joy in their face," said McNall. "She said, ‘We’re at the stadium! I get to see the Brewers!’"

Lacritia Spence

One fan is taking her love of baseball to a whole new level. She isn’t interested in catching a foul ball but instead shooting cupid’s arrow. Over at Lacritia Spence’s table, opening day is all about getting to "second base."

"Is he single?" said Spence looking at a FOX6 News photojournalist.

Blushing under his ball cap, single and ready to mingle, is photojournalist Eddie Poser who can’t help but think he’s scored a home run with this group of people.

Spence wants to win the game of love this season. She hopes her love of the Brewers will extend to finding the love of her life.

FOX6 News asked if her boyfriend will have to be a Brewers fan.

"It helps. I wouldn’t want them to be a Cubs fan," said Spence. "But if they checked all the boxes, we can work it out."

Friends, good food, and even love can be found at a Brewers Opening Day.

Poser and Spence are already calling each other "boo," and hopefully, Poser will get an invitation to the next opening day celebration.
