No. 10 pick: Milwaukee Bucks select Thon Maker in 2016 NBA Draft
NEW YORK -- With the No. 10 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks selected 19-year-old Thon Maker of Australia.
The 7-foot-1 center from South Sudan moved to Australia as a youth and played last year for the Athlete Institute in Canada.
The Bucks needed a big man who could defend, rebound and provide another physical presence. They also could use a 3-point shooter and another ball-handler.
They went with a young big man to join young cornerstone forwards Jabari Parker and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
General manager John Hammond took a risk on international prospect Antetokounmpo in the 2013 draft that has paid off. The Bucks hope they can get the same return eventually on Maker.
