"Not a protest:" Milwaukee Bucks stand together in 'show of unity' during national anthem
MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Bucks on Monday, October 3rd posted to Twitter a photo of the team standing together in a show of unity ahead of their preseason opener vs. the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. The photo shows the players standing together, with their hands on each other's shoulders.
According to ESPN, Milwaukee Bucks Head Coach Jason Kidd said before the game that his team wasn't protesting.
This, on the heels of recent controversy surrounding Colin Kaepernick, and his decision to sit or kneel during the national anthem in protest of police brutality.
"We're showing unity. There's not a protest," Kidd said, according to ESPN. "We discussed it, and I think there was a lot of discussion throughout the week. The guys have come up with a solution of what they want to do for the national anthem. So I'm very proud of them being able to come together and make a decision and do it as a team. That just shows a lot of growth for our young players."
The Bucks came away with a win vs. Chicago -- 93 to 91.
