Packers clean out lockers after crushing defeat at NFC Championship game

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers are cleaning out their lockers on Monday, January 19th -- a day after a crushing overtime defeat against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game. Green Bay lost 28-22 after leading most of the game. The loss denied the Packers an opportunity to play in Super Bowl 49. But the players who were in the locker room Monday were thankful for finishing the season healthy -- and looking forward to next season.

"I'm very blessed that I came out of this year healthy for the first time in a while-- and very proud of the way the offensive line as a group, that we played and the way the offense played," said tackle Bryan Bulaga.

The Packers finished the regular season 12-4 and atop the North Division. They secured a first-week bye in the playoffs -- and took advantage of that home field advantage in their defeat of the Dallas Cowboys, 26-21.

But on Sunday, January 18th, with just minutes left in the game, the Seahawks scored several times within a matter of just a few minutes. The final score came when Russell Wilson hit Jermaine Kearse for a 35-yard touchdown at 3:19 of overtime to complete the Seahawks' 28-22 win.

Despite the loss, some of the Packers players tweeted out thanks to fans of the green and gold.

Looking ahead in 2015, the Green Bay Packers will be inducting former quarterback Brett Favre into the Packers Hall of Fame on Saturday, July 18th in the Lambeau Field Atrium. The event will also feature the retirement of Favre’s No. 4.
