Packers prepare Lambeau Atrium for Driver celebration

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers prepared the Lambeau Field Atrium on Tuesday afternoon, February 5th for a massive celebration in honor of Donald Driver.

Driver will formally announce his retirement on Wednesday, February 6th during a public event at the Lambeau Field Atrium. It begins at 11 a.m. and a limited number of free tickets  to the event were handed out to fans last week.

On Tuesday, chairs were set out for reporters and Driver's VIP guests. Jumbo TVs and speakers were added for the fans, who will be standing during the ceremony.

Driver is the Packers' all-time leading receiver in receptions and yards. He was also a member of the Super Bowl XLV championship team.

Tickets for the event were snatched up in about 15 minutes last week. 

The Packers Pro Shop has ordered plenty of Driver jerseys, and expect they will sell quickly.

The celebration will be a family affair for sisters Ginger Stanek and Helene Rosner. One sister was willing to do whatever it took to see Driver one last time, and that meant waiting in line three hours to get free tickets.

"It was 20 below wind chill, three below was the temperature, and I waited in line for four tickets so I could take my three sisters. We all love him and we'll be happy to hopefully just be able to see him," Ginger Stanek said.

If she had a chance to speak with Driver, Ginger Stanek would say: "Thank you for everything. I think you're a great man, a great athlete. You've got a great smile and you're a great dancer," Ginger Stanek said.

As for what's next for Driver, the sisters say the possibilities are endless!

"I think he'd make a great coach. He's a great motivator," Helene Rosner said.

"I'd also like to see him with young people because he has such a message of how his life started and how his career is ending," Ginger Stanek said.
