Ryan Braun will start for National League in All-Star game
MILWAUKEE -- Brewers.com has announced Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun will start for the National League in the 2012 All-Star game.
Braun was added to the National League's roster via the player ballot after falling short via fan voting.
Braun was added to the starting roster on Tuesday, July 3rd when Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp pulled out of the event with a hamstring injury.
Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones took Kemp's spot on the roster, and Braun took Kemp's spot in the starting lineup.
Braun got the nod by rule, as the top vote-getter on the player ballot who was not voted to the starting lineup by fans.
Brewers.com reports before this year, Braun had been voted to the starting lineup in each of the previous four seasons, though he missed the 2011 game because of a leg injury. He already is the only player in Brewers history to start three All-Star Games; now he is poised for a fourth.
