Saros stars as Admirals shut out Monsters, 1-0

CLEVELAND, OH -- Goalie Juuse Saros stopped 35 shots to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 1-0 win over the Cleveland Monsters Thursday night at Quicken Loans Arena.

Milwaukee scored the only goal of the game at 7:23 of the third period. With his team on the power play, Admirals defenseman Alex Carrier moved the puck into the right corner for Frederick Gaudreau. Gaudreau skated behind the Monsters goal and slid a pass into the slot for a one-timer from Matt White. White’s shot found the back of the net for his seventh goal of the season and his first career AHL power play goal. The tally extended White’s points streak to eight games.

The power play goal was also the first allowed on home ice by the Monsters this season, snapping a 29/29 start to the team’s home schedule.

Saros, who made 15 saves in the first period, had to come up big to stop a Justin Scott breakaway with just over 4:00 remaining in the game. The Ads goalie kicked the shot from the slot away with his right leg.

Cleveland goalie Anton Forsberg stopped 33 shots in the loss.

The Ads visit Cleveland Saturday afternoon. Milwaukee returns home Wed., Nov. 23 to host the Grand Rapids Griffins at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
