Sue Black named new President, CEO of Milwaukee Wave

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Former Milwaukee County Parks Director Sue Black has been named the new President and CEO of the Milwaukee Wave indoor soccer team.

The announcement was made after the final buzzer of the Milwaukee Wave School Day game on Wednesday, February 6th.

Wave owner Jim Lindenberg made the announcement as Black ran up to a stage on the field waving a Milwaukee Wave scarf.

Black was fired from her post as Milwaukee Parks Director in August of 2012. She says the experience she gained at that job will help her at her new job with the Wave.

"It's a natural fit. One thing I've been able to do is bring results. This is an opportunity of a lifetime. I love this city. I love the community," Black said.

Lindenberg says Black's connections and knowledge will help grow the Wave.

"We needed someone in business and Sue fits the description," Lindenberg said.

The team is hopeful her guidance will help build on growing momentum, broadening the fan base, increasing ticket sales and gaining corporate sponsors.

"We're headed the right way, but it always helps to have a seasoned veteran that is a great spokesperson and knows the community and knows the connections," Lindenberg said.

Black has already started her new job and says this is an exciting new chapter in her life.
