GREEN BAY (WITI) -- As the Packers enter another year of Training Camp, young fans geared up for a bike ride that happens annually. Every year, youthful Packers fanatics ride their bikes to Ray Nitschke Field to watch the players practice - and hope one of the players will ride back with them at the end of the day.
The bike-riding tradition dates back to the Lombardi era.
2013 was Joe Carlson's second year riding his bike to practice. He hoped tight end Jermichael Finley would use his ride to get to Ray Nitschke Field one morning.
"(I) still got hope," Carlson said. "Cause he's a pretty cool player!"
The players all have good things to say about the bike riding tradition.
"You know, it's pretty cool to see," said quarterback B.J. Coleman. "I've actually got a guy. Didn't ride down with him this morning, but rode back up with him this afternoon after we finished practice."
"I've had the same rider for the last three years, so I'm just staying consistent, keeping things similar," said offensive lineman Bray Bulgaga about the fan he rides with.
Most of the children who show up with their bikes at Ray Nitschke Field said they will come to Training Camp every day.
As for Carlson, the player of his choice opted for a four-wheeled ride to practice. Luckily for him, however, his bike was still put to use by defensive lineman C.J. Wilson.
