Will Aaron Rodgers play Sunday against the Falcons?
GREEN BAY (WITI) -- The Packers will be on the practice field on Wednesday, December 4th -- and the biggest question is whether Aaron Rodgers will play on Sunday, December 8th as the team takes on the Atlanta Falcons -- and whether we'll see Rodgers back on the field this season.
Rodgers has been sidelined since he suffered a fractured collarbone during a game against the Bears on Monday night, November 4th.
Rodgers suffered the injury after being sacked on third down by Bears defensive end Shea McClellin.
During an interview with 540 ESPN, as Rodgers recounted the incident, he referred to the tackle as a “forceful throw-down” that left him in “considerable pain.”
Sunday's game against the Falcons was originally scheduled to be a prime time meeting before Atlanta hit the skids this season and Rodgers went down with his injury.
So will Rodgers suit up this Sunday?
One week ahead of the game vs. the Falcons, Ian Rappaport with the NFL Network reported that Rodgers would be "lucky" to play Sunday, and that if the team drops out of any contention for a playoff spot, Rodgers might be shut down for the season.
Rappaport referenced sources in the Packers organization.
Later in the day, Rodgers told a FOX Sports reporter at an NBA game in Los Angeles that he would be back for Sunday's game, and also texted Jason Wilde with ESPNWisconsin.com and said he won't play again until he's 30.
Rodgers celebrated his 30th birthday on Monday, December 2nd.
The team won't address the issue until Tuesday, December 3rd. Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy canceled his regularly scheduled press conference Monday and reschedule it for Tuesday.
