Wisconsin Badgers safety Michael Caputo sustains head injury
ARLINGTON, TX — No. 20 Wisconsin lost one of its top defenders early in the season opener, when safety Michael Caputo sustained a head injury on the third play of the game.
Caputo was hurt while making a tackle to stop running back Derrick Henry on third-ranked Alabama's opening series Saturday night.
After being helped to the sideline, Caputo's helmet was taken away from him. Badgers officials said a few minutes later that he wouldn't return to the game.
The senior was one of the captains for the game. He appeared in his 41st career game, making his 28th start for the Badgers.
Last season, Caputo had 106 tackles, six for losses. He recovered four fumbles and had an interception.
