Trial date set for Thomas Kreinbring, former president of UWM "Tau Kappa Epsilon" fraternity

MILWAUKEE -- A trial date has been set for the former president of a UW-Milwaukee fraternity.28-year-old Thomas Kreinbring has pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of marijuana and keeping a drug house.Those charges come after police say they started investigating reports of members of the Tau Kappa Epsilon house drugging young women at a house party.The frat has since been suspended by UWM.On Thursday, August 27th, the judge denied two motions to suppress evidence, and set a trial date for November 30th.Kreinbring will be in court on November 23rd for his final pretrial hearing.

$200,000 upgrade for UWM's Henry Aaron Field set to get underway in August

Documents show UW-Madison will take biggest hit under $250M cut to UW System

MADISON — New documents show the University of Wisconsin-Madison will take a nearly $59 million hit this budget year under a total $250 million cut to the UW System in the state budget.System officials released their 2015-16 budget Monday, July 6th.The plan also shows UW-Milwaukee taking an $18 million cut.The other 11 four-year campuses will see cuts ranging from $851,000 to $7.7 million.The budget materials did not include details on how the campuses will deal with the cuts.

Student government leaders at UW-Milwaukee, Marquette take stand on bus drivers strike

MILWAUKEE -- Student government leaders at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Marquette University are urging Milwaukee County bus drivers and the transit system to come to terms on a labor agreement.The student leaders say a 2-day strike by bus drivers has impacted tens of thousands of students who need the bus to get to summer classes.

UWM Concert Chorale to perform with The Rolling Stones: “This is an amazing opportunity for our students"

MILWAUKEE -- Members of the UW-Milwaukee Concert Chorale will perform with The Rolling Stones when the band makes its appearance at the Marcus Amphitheater next Tuesday, June 23rd, the Milwaukee Business Journal reports.On recent tours, the Stones have been selecting local choirs to perform on stage during the song, "You Can't Always Get What You Want." An announcement from UWM did not indicate what song or songs the UWM students may perform.“This is an amazing opportunity for our students,” said Zack Durlam, director of choral activities at UWM. “Not only do they get to perform with world-famous legends of rock music, they also get to briefly experience the inner workings of the music business.”The UWM Concert Chorale is the most select of five choral ensembles directed at UWM and features top-performing male and female vocalists.The Rolling Stones performance, part of the band's 15-city Zip Code tour, will be Tuesday before the June 24th launch of Summerfest this year.
