GREEN BAY -- The potential challenges inherent in the NFL draft’s virtual format became apparent Monday, April 20 as Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst conducted a conference call with reporters.Gutekunst was about to answer a question when a technical issue caused him to get dropped from the call for about a minute.“Let’s hope that doesn’t happen on Thursday,” Gutekunst quipped.Gutekunst, who has developed a reputation for his willingness to make draft deals, remains confident the unusual nature of this year’s event will still allow for plenty of trade talk.It just won’t be quite as convenient as usual now that Gutekunst will be working the draft from his home as part of the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

Packers Give Back is supporting Milwaukee County relief efforts with $500,000 in grants

MILWAUKEE -- The Green Bay Packers have distributed $500,000 in grants to 16 Milwaukee County nonprofit organizations thanks to the Packers Give Back COVID-19 Community Relief Fund, the organization announced Monday, April 20.The funds are going to organizations that provide support to Milwaukee County residents facing challenges caused by the pandemic, with future grants through the fund to be announced at a later date.The grants given so far help address hunger, human services, health and wellness, and needs of those who are elderly or experiencing homelessness, poverty and/or domestic violence.The first 16 groups receiving grants include:

Packers to launch 'Legacy' documentary series online, fans invited to virtual watch parties

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers on Thursday, April 2 will launch "Legacy: 100 Seasons of the Green Bay Packers", presented by Associated Bank, on packers.com and on the team’s mobile app, with a new episode about each decade set to premiere online each week for the next 10 weeks.Legacy is a 10-part documentary series celebrating a century of the Packers, with every decade represented by an individual film between one and two hours in length.

Packers sign RB Tyler Ervin for next season, GM Gutekunst says

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers have re-signed running back Tyler Ervin, General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced Monday, March 30.Ervin, a 5'10", 192-pound fifth-year player out of San Jose State, played in four regular-season games and both postseason contests for the Packers last season after being claimed off of waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars on Dec. 3, 2019.He averaged 26.7 yards on six kickoff returns, including a career-long 45-yarder for Green Bay during the regular season, and 9.6 yards on 11 punt returns, according to a release.In the postseason, Ervin returned three kickoffs for 41 yards (13.7 avg.) and one punt for 6 yards with three fair catches.He was originally selected by the Houston Texans in the fourth round (No. 119 overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Bucks, Packers donate money raised to local hunger relief efforts

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Bucks and Green Bay Packers teamed up to sell limited edition t-shirts after the Packers' playoff run with intent to donate money raised to hunger relief efforts.The $37,500 raised will benefit both Paul's Pantry in Green Bay and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin in Milwaukee.The shirts -- that featured both the Bucks and Packers logos -- were sold for $19.95 and were available for purchase during the Packers’ playoff run at the Bucks Pro Shop at Fiserv Forum, at the Packers Pro Shop at Lambeau Field and online.Wisconsin sports teams have historically supported each other throughout their seasons in a variety of ways, including attendance at games, video board shout-outs and social media posts.

'Pandemonium:' Aaron Rodgers details return to US from Peru on radio show

Green Bay Packers establish COVID-19 Community Relief Funds totaling $1.5M

GREEN BAY -- Green Bay Packers officials announced Monday, March 23 they will establish COVID-19 Community Relief Funds totaling $1.5 million through Packers Give Back "to assist efforts in Brown County and the Milwaukee area."According to a news release, the $1 million Brown County-directed fund, the Packers Give Back COVID-19 Community Relief Fund, is being established through the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation.Packers Give Back also is directing $500,000 to support initiatives in the Milwaukee area, the release said.The financial support will be directed to specific COVID-19 relief efforts in the respective communities, both immediately and in the future as needs arise due to the anticipated effects of the pandemic.“We are facing an unprecedented challenge in our communities,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy in the release. “We know our nonprofit support agencies will be performing their usual excellent work, but they’ll need additional resources as various needs and gaps in coverage develop in the coming weeks and months.

GREEN BAY -- The 15th annual Green Bay Packers Tailgate Tour -- originally scheduled to travel to La Crosse, Madison and Milwaukee from May 15-17 -- has been canceled as part of the collective effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.This decision was made based on guidance from government officials and the CDC, in light of their recommendations for limiting gathering sizes and practicing social distancing as much as possible.
