Milwaukee Admirals fall to San Jose Barracuda, 4-2

Milwaukee, WI--Freddy Gaudreau and Anthony Richard scored goal for the Admirals but it wasn't enough as the Admirals fell to the San Jose Barracuda 4-2 on Saturday night at Panther Arena.Unlike Friday night when the Admirals and Stockton Heat were scoreless after one, tonight's game brought action right from the start as San Jose's Kevin Lebanc scored on a breakaway just 36 seconds into the game.However, the Barracuda lead didn't last long as Anthony Richard scored on a rebound goal six minutes into the game to knot the score at one.

Mazanec, Admirals shut off Heat with 3-0 win

MILWAUKEE -- Marek Mazanec stopped all 20 shots thrown his way for his third shutout in the past two weeks as the Admirals took a 3-0 win over the Stockton Heat on Friday night at the Panther Arena.The loss broke a brief two-game losing streak and avenged a loss to the Heat on January 6 in California.Stellar goaltending was the story of the game early on and the contest was scoreless until just over five minutes to go in the second period.With the Admirals on their first power-play of the game, Captain Trevor Smith held the puck at the bottom of the right circle as Adam Payerl was stationed in front of the net.Smith feigned the pass to Payerl and sent a snapper that beat Heat goalie David Rittich over the glove for a 1-0 Ads lead.Andrew O'Brien got his first as an Admiral just 1:37 into the final period when he let loose a slapper from the left point that flew over the shoulder of Rittich.Adam Payerl sealed the deal for the Admirals when his 7th goal of the season with two minutes to play in the game.

Pontus Aberg nets 2 goals, but Admirals fall to Cleveland Monsters 5-2

MILWAUKEE -- Pontus Aberg scored both goals for the Admirals, but it wasn't enough as they dropped a 5-2 decision to the Cleveland Monsters on Tuesday night, January 24th at Panther Arena.The loss kicked off a four-game homestand for the Ads, who are home for the first time since January 13th.Cleveland jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Justin Scott connected on a one-timer from the bottom of the right circle that beat Ads goalie Marek Mazanec with 5:05 remaining in the opening period.The Monsters pushed their lead to two when they countered an Ads rush that resulted in an odd man rush of their own ended with Alex Broadhurst's ninth goal of the season.Pontus Aberg got Milwaukee on the board and pulled the team within one on his 11th goal of the season.

Chicago Wolves snap Milwaukee Admirals' 3-game winning streak with 5-1 win

CHICAGO -- Kenny Agostino posted three points to lead the Chicago Wolves to a 5-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday afternoon, January 22nd at Allstate Arena.The Wolves clinched the Amtrak Rivalry Trophy with the win.The loss snapped Milwaukee’s three-game winning streak and also ended Chicago’s three-game losing streak.Agostino, the AHL’s leading scorer, scored a goal and added two assists.The teams played a scoreless first period but it took less than a minute into the second period for the Wolves to get on the board.

Marek Mazanec leads Milwaukee Admirals to 1-0 shutout victory over Chicago Wolves

MILWAUKEE -- Goalie Marek Mazanec stopped 30 shots to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Chicago Wolves Saturday night, January 21st at Allstate Arena.Mazanec recorded his second shutout in three games after previously beating Charlotte 3-0 on Tuesday.The win was the 184th for Ads head coach Dean Evason which makes him the winningest coach in Admirals AHL history.

Milwaukee Admirals get 4-3 overtime win vs. Charlotte Checkers

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- Marek Mazanec stopped 44 shots and Kevin Fiala scored the game-winner to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 4-3 overtime win over the Charlotte Checkers Wednesday night at Bojangles’ Coliseum.Fiala’s winner came at 1:26 of the overtime session as he skated to the front of the net and waited for goalie Michael Leighton to lunge at the puck before popping it into the net for his third goal of the season.

Admirals fall to Griffins, 3-0

MILWAUKEE -- The Admirals surrendered three power-play goals to Grand Rapids and couldn't connect on five tries of their own as they fell 3-0 on Friday night at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.The loss was the fourth in a row for Milwaukee, who have scored just two goals during the losing skid.Grand Rapids jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first period when Evgeny Svechnikov connected on a power-play marker from the bottom of the right circle.The Griffins lead went up 2-0 with just 1:02 left in the opening stanza when Mitch Callahan deflected a Ben Street shot past Ads goalie Marek Mazanec.Another power-play maker for Svechnikov at 6:33 of the second period put the Admirals in a 3-0 hole.That was it for the scoring as neither team found the back of the net in the final stanza.Marek Mazanec played well in net for the Ads, turning aside 28 shots on the night, including a number of odd man rushes, but he suffered the loss.The Admirals are now off for the rest of the weekend before hitting the road for four in a row beginning next Tuesday night in Charlotte against the Checkers.

SAN JOSE, Cali. -- Goalie Marek Mazanec stopped 39 shots and Derek Army scored two goals to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 3-1 win over the San Jose Barracuda Friday night at SAP Center.It was the first meeting between the Admirals and the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks since Mar. 10, 2006 when the Ads defeated the then-Cleveland Barons 6-3 in Milwaukee.Mazanec stopped 34 of 35 shots over the final two periods of the game and nearly scored an empty net goal late in the third period.Milwaukee scored the first goal of the game at 5:07 of the first period.
