Foxconn, UWM team up to create 'international engineering co-op program'

MILWAUKEE -- Foxconn Technology Group, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Chung Yuan Christian University signed an agreement Thursday, June 14 to create an international co-op program in which UWM engineering students will study at the university in Taiwan and work at a Foxconn facility there before returning to UWM to complete their degrees.According to a news release from UWM officials, the co-op program will introduce engineering students to liquid crystal display fabrication technology and processes.

Illinois officials concerned over Foxconn plant impact

CHICAGO — County officials in northeastern Illinois are objecting to the potential environmental impacts of Foxconn Technology Group's manufacturing plant in neighboring Wisconsin.The Lake County News-Sun reports that the Lake County Board unanimously passed a resolution Tuesday calling for Wisconsin officials to reconsider waiving environmental regulations for the company.

MADISON — Foxconn Technology Group on Wednesday, May 23 pushed hard against a report that it is scaling back its initial investment at its planned Wisconsin facility.The Taiwan-based company reacted Wednesday to a report in the Nikkei Asian Review that said it was considering shifting the focus of what is made at the facility to reduce initial costs for the $10 billion complex.

MOUNT PLEASANT — Foxconn Technology Group plans to officially break ground for its southeastern Wisconsin manufacturing complex next month.The Taiwanese electronics giant plans to build a $10 billion flat-screen manufacturing campus in Mount Pleasant in Racine County.The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Friday that the company has scheduled a Thursday, June 28 ceremony at the site.
