Sheriff: 70 OWI arrests in July in Milwaukee County

MILWAUKEE -- Seventy drivers were arrested for OWI in July, and 20 of those were crash-related, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office announced Monday, Aug. 5.According to MCSO, during the first weekend of August, there were four arrests for OWI, first offense, and two for OWI, second offense.A breakdown of the 70 July arrests is as follows:

Driver arrested after pregnant woman hurt in hit-and-run on I-41 NB near Mayfair Road

MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- A pregnant woman was hurt in a hit-and-run crash that happened early Sunday, July 28.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, it happened around 12:30 a.m. on I-41 northbound near Mayfair Road.MCSO officials said the victim, who is more than five months pregnant, complained of head and back pain.

Alleged reckless driver arrested after pursuit ended in crash near 35th and Clarke

MILWAUKEE -- A driver was arrested after a pursuit ended in a crash near 35th and Clarke Tuesday evening, July 23.Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said around 7:45 p.m., deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving near Capitol Drive and Teutonia Avenue -- when the driver refused to stop.

Sheriff: Driver arrested for OWI after Narcan had to be used to revive him on I-794

MILWAUKEE -- A driver was arrested for OWI after a deputy had to use Narcan to revive him on I-794 near 2nd Street on Tuesday morning, July 23.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, just after 9 a.m., the driver was found unresponsive in a vehicle on I-794 eastbound.When the first deputy arrived on scene, two good Samaritans were performing CPR.

Sheriff's deputies spend time with community members to promote safety and fun

Sheriff: Man arrested for OWI, 2nd offense, with 3 children in his vehicle

MILWAUKEE -- A man was arrested for his second OWI offense Saturday night, July 13, and sheriff's officials said he had three children in his vehicle.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, around 11:15 p.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on 35th and Hadley for running a red light at 35th and Center Street.Sheriff's officials said the driver exhibited signs of impairment, and performed poorly during field sobriety tests.There were three passengers in the vehicle, children ages 1, 2, and 6.

Woman arrested for 2nd OWI, child neglect after crash on I-43 at National Avenue

MILWAUKEE -- A woman, 31, was arrested for OWI, second offense, with minor passengers under the age of 16 and child neglect after a crash on I-43 at National Avenue Tuesday morning, July 9.It happened just before 9 a.m. on I-43 southbound.Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said the vehicle was found resting on the right barrier wall, with airbags deployed.
