Drivers take note! Hoan Bridge to close on June 2 for UPAF Ride for the Arts

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office will be closing the Hoan Bridge on Sunday, June 2, for the annual UPAF Ride for the Arts.According to the sheriff's office, the bridge will be closed beginning at 5:45 a.m.The sheriff's office expects it to reopen by 11 a.m.More than 4,000 bicyclists are participating in the 38th annual UPAF Ride for the Arts.

MCSO: Shots fired during reckless driving investigation in Milwaukee; suspects at large

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County sheriff's officials were seeking suspects after shots were fired during a reckless driving incident that began near 17th and North Avenue Monday night, May 27.MCSO officials said around 10 p.m., deputies in an unmarked squad noticed the driver of a black Nissan made a left turn through a red light before turning right onto 16th Street -- where several shots were fired from inside the vehicle.The deputies activated their emergency lights, and more rounds were fired from inside the Nissan.With deputies in pursuit, the Nissan fled westbound to an alley between 23rd and 24th Street, where the vehicle was abandoned and the suspects fled on foot.

2 hurt in 4-vehicle crash involving sign board on I-43 SB near Silver Spring Drive

MILWAUKEE -- The two left lanes of southbound I-43 were temporarily closed at Silver Spring Drive Monday morning, May 27 due to a crash.It happened around 11:30 a.m., and involved four vehicles and a sign board, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.MCSO officials said one person was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, and another was treated on scene.North Shore Fire/Rescue officials said it happened after a driver hit a portable direction sign and pushed it into traffic.

Miami man headed to Denver busted with Adderall and no prescription at Mitchell Airport

MILWAUKEE -- A Miami, Florida man was busted at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport with Adderall he did not have a prescription for.Jerome Hunt, 39, faces one count of possession of a controlled substance.According to a criminal complaint, on Friday, May 3, deputies at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport notified a sergeant with the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program about a possible incident in which bulk cash was smuggled by a passenger.

Sheriff: Driver, passenger fled scene after crash involving 4 vehicles on I-43 at Highland

MILWAUKEE -- A driver and passenger were at large after a crash Thursday afternoon, May 16.Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said the crash on I-43 southbound at Highland involved four vehicles.The driver and passenger from one of the vehicles fled the scene before deputies arrived.No one was hurt.The investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing.
