Sheriff: 2 Milwaukee County Jail inmates tested positive for COVID-19

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office on Sunday, April 19 reported two Milwaukee County Jail inmates tested positive for the coronavirus, but said neither showed symptoms while in custody.MCSO officials said officials with the jail's contracted medical provider reported that one individual detained in the jail, and one individual released from the jail on Sunday, tested positive for COVID-19.

MCSO responds to 'vehicle in median' on HWY 145 & 91st, 1 dead, officials say

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a vehicle in the median at Highway 145 and 91st Street around 10:20 p.m. Saturday, March 28.Upon arrival, officials found an individual dead inside the vehicle.Officials are not releasing any more information at this time.This is an ongoing investigation. 

MCSO: Body found on Oak Leaf Trail in Oak Creek

OAK CREEK -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation after a body was found in Oak Creek on Thursday, March 12.Authorities were notified around 6:30 p.m. of the body, found on the Oak Leaf Trail just east of Howell Avenue.

MFD: Car crashes through ice on Washington Park lagoon

MILWAUKEE -- Authorities were called to Washington Park after a car crashed through the lagoon ice Friday night.Officials were called to the scene around 5:10 p.m. where they found the car, abandoned -- according to the Milwaukee Fire Department.

Man accused of making threats to Froedtert dispatcher: 'I got nothing to lose'

MILWAUKEE -- Joel Dempsey, 36, was charged Tuesday, March 3 with a count of terrorist threats -- public panic or fear -- for allegedly making threats to dispatchers at Froedtert Hospital.According to the criminal complaint, a Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy was sent to Froedtert on Saturday, Feb. 29 to investigate a threats complaint.

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas held a news conference on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 18 to speak about a variety of subjects -- including the tragic deaths of a Milwaukee mother and her two daughters, a Jan. 25 deputy-involved fatal crash, reckless driving, the Democratic National Convention, as well as a House of Correction merger study, and recruitment and retention of correctional officers.

Court Documents: MCSO deputy involved in fatal crash files lawsuit against sheriff, others

MILWAUKEE -- According to court documents, Joel Streicher -- the Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy involved in a fatal crash on Saturday, Jan. 25 -- has filed a lawsuit against Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas and others.The civil suit was filed Thursday, Feb. 13 and lists Streicher and the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriffs' Association as the plaintiffs -- the Milwaukee County Clerk, Sheriff Lucas and Jason Hodel, MCSO captain of internal affairs, are listed as the defendants.

Semi jackknifes on I-43 at North Avenue, slows morning commute for thousands

MILWAUKEE -- The left lanes were closed for several hours on I-43 in both directions at North Avenue in Milwaukee Thursday morning, Feb. 13 due to a jackknifed semi.The truck was headed northbound around 3:40 a.m. But in the wreck, the cab of the truck ended up straddling the median barriers -- and forcing authorities to shut down a portion of the southbound lanes.PHOTO GALLERYThe Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said there were no injuries, and the driver of the semi was cited for driving to fast for conditions and failure to have control.The Milwaukee Fire Department's hazmat team was called in to contain and clean up 100 gallons of spilled fuel from the semi.
