After closed-door meeting, FPC needs more time to complete chief's 6-month job review

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission met behind closed doors Tuesday night, June 30 to review community and MPD input regarding Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales -- part of the process for the chief's six-month job review.With the session closed to the public, it's unclear what commissioners discussed, but the FPC's executive director said afterwards that, based on information reviewed during this meeting, commissioners will need more time to complete the chief's review.The FPC quickly went into executive session Tuesday -- with just a handful of members and staff behind closed doors -- to discuss Chief Morales' six-month performance reviews since he was appointed chief in December.

Police share video of 'multiple suspects' wanted for removing property from home near 40th and Lloyd

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police on Tuesday, June 30 shared video in their continued search for "multiple suspects" wanted in connection with "civil unrest" near 40th Street and Lloyd Street Tuesday, June 23, stemming from an investigation into two missing teenage girls.Police said "after MPD secured and locked" a home in the area, the individuals highlighted in the video "were observed unlawfully entering the residence without the owner’s consent, throwing and removing various property from the residence and unlawfully entering the owner’s vehicle prior to it being set on fire."

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Police Department has asked for the public's assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted for a shooting that happened near 35th and Juneau on Monday, June 29.Authorities say the victim and a witness were walking when the suspect fired several shots at them, striking the victim, around 10 p.m. on Monday.The suspect is described as an African-American male, 25-30 years old, 5'7" tall with a slim build and a beard.

Police: 16-year-old girl among 2 hurt in separate shootings in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- Two people were hurt in separate shootings Sunday, June 28 in Milwaukee.The first shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. near 22nd Street at Atkinson Avenue.Police said a 16-year-old girl from Milwaukee was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.The second shooting happened around 6 p.m. near 27th Street and Howard Avenue.Police said a 51-year-old man from Jefferson was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.MPD is investigating the circumstances surrounding these incidents.
