32-year-old man injured in shooting near 55th and Congress

Passenger from stolen vehicle in critical condition, struck by squad after crash during pursuit

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee man, 30, was hospitalized in critical condition after he was struck by a Milwaukee Police Department squad car after police said he was ejected from a stolen vehicle involved in a crash after a short pursuit.According to police, around 6:30 Thursday morning, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near 30th Street and North Avenue after spotting a stolen vehicle taken in a burglary.

National Police Week: Officers Matthew Rittner, John Hetland honored during virtual vigil

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Police Department has requested the public's assistance identifying and locating a suspect involved in a burglary that happened on the city's south side Tuesday morning.Police say the suspect broke into a closed business near 6th and Greenfield around 12:25 a.m. on May 12 and took property from the business.The suspect is described as a white male, 30-35 years old, 5'8" to 5'9" tall and 160-175 pounds with a medium build.

Milwaukee, Wauwatosa and Cudahy receive $10.2M in awards to combat violent crime

WAUWATOSA -- The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) and the Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance have awarded more than $61 million in grant funding to support the Attorney General’s Operation Relentless Pursuit (ORP) initiative.Of that $61 million, the COPS Office awarded $9,712,096 to the Milwaukee Police Department (“MPD”); $226,061 to the Wauwatosa Police Department; and $301,412 to the Cudahy Police Department.Those awards will fund a total of 32 police officers: 30 for MPD and one each for Wauwatosa and Cudahy.According to a press release, the COPS Office, through its COPS Hiring Program (CHP), awarded a total of $51 million to be used to hire 214 sworn law enforcement officers for state and local law enforcement task forces.

MPD: 67-year-old man arrested for allegedly stabbing, wounding 34-year-old woman

MILWAUKEE -- A 67-year-old man is expected to face criminal charges after an incident near 29th and Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee on Sunday, May 10.Officials say around 8:40 p.m. Sunday, a 34-year-old woman was stabbed and suffered a serious injury -- allegedly at the hands of the 67-year-old man during an argument.
