Racine Co. sheriff: 2 in custody following drunk driving incidents in Yorkville

YORKVILLE -- Two men were taken into custody for drunk driving in the Village of Yorkville early Saturday, Nov. 2.According to officials, the Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call for a crash on Durand Avenue near 59th Drive around 2 a.m.Upon arrival, deputies saw a large debris field and a silver pickup truck with heavy damage in the ditch approximately 100 feet from where the car struck a telephone pole.The pole was severely damaged and knocked over, with wires across the road.Both occupants were still inside the vehicle and said they were not injured.The driver, a 46-year-old man, refused field sobriety tests.

Sheriff: Needles, crack pipe found in vehicle after witnesses reported reckless driving on I-94

RACINE COUNTY -- Charges were filed Monday, Oct. 28 against a Sullivan man accused in connection with a crash involving a semi that was being towed on I-94 near Highway 20 on Saturday afternoon Oct. 26.David Wetherell, 34, faces one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, repeater, and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, repeater.The crash happened just after 2 p.m., when deputies responded to a report of a reckless driver headed southbound on I-94 from Milwaukee County.Witnesses said a Kia station wagon was weaving all over the road, nearly crashing into other vehicles.It eventually crashed into the semi being towed near the southbound Highway 20 entrance ramp, causing significant damage the station wagon.There were no reported injuries in the crash.Wetherall was identified as the driver of the station wagon.Field sobriety testing led to his arrest for OWI, first offense.Sheriff's officials said a search of his vehicle revealed hypodermic needles, a crack pipe, and other drug paraphernalia.Wetherell made his initial appearance in court on Monday.

Racine County deputies arrest 4 impaired drivers in less than 3 hours

RACINE COUNTY -- Deputies with the Racine County Sheriff's Office arrested four drivers who were allegedly impaired Saturday, Oct. 19, with the arrests taking place within less than three hours -- between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.A 58-year-old Mount Pleasant man was arrested for felony OWI, fifth offense, and felony possession of a Schedule I narcotic after sheriff's officials said he caused a crash on I-94 southbound near 7 Mile Road.

Sheriff: Burlington man out on bond faces drug charges after cocaine, marijuana, Vicodin found in home

RACINE COUNTY -- A Burlington man out on bond is facing a number of drug charges after a search warrant was executed at a home in Burlington Thursday morning, Oct. 10.Around 10:30 a.m., the search warrant was executed near Morel Drive and Crestview Drive after information was developed by investigators that Edward Kirk, 47, was involved in the sale of cocaine from this residence.Investigators found 28.8 grams of cocaine, 7.8 grams of marijuana, two Vicodin tablets, a digital scale, a cutting agent, packaging materials, ammunition, and two handguns.Kirk faces the following charges, filed Friday, Oct. 11:

Racine man arrested, accused of growing marijuana on private property in Caledonia

RACINE COUNTY -- Charges were filed Wednesday, Oct. 9 against a Racine man accused of growing marijuana on private property that did not belong to him in Caledonia.Gregg Gulbrandson, 50, of Racine, was arrested Tuesday morning, Oct. 8, as agents from the Racine County Metro Drug Unit and K-9 officers executed a search warrant at Gulbrandson's home on Illinois Street near Wright Avenue in Racine after information was developed in September that Gulbrandson was involved in an outdoor grow operation on Highway 31 near 5 Mile Road in Caledonia.

Dashcam video shows slow-speed pursuit through Kenosha, Racine counties

KENOSHA -- New dash camera video shows just how slowly a suspect was driving in a chase with deputies through Kenosha and Racine counties.The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department says the suspect, David Seal, refused to pull over during a traffic stop at 52nd Street and 22nd Avenue in Kenosha.

Man arrested for OWI, 2nd offense after blowing stop sign, causing crash in Racine County

VILLAGE OF ROCHESTER -- A Kenosha County man, 59, was arrested for OWI, second offense, after Racine County sheriff's officials said he failed to stop for a stop sign and caused a crash in the Village of Rochester Friday night, Sept. 27.It happened around 11:45 p.m.Deputies responded to the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway J in the Village of Rochester for the crash involving two vehicles.

'Came into our garage:' 8 burglaries reported in the Village of Rochester in Racine County Tuesday morning

RACINE COUNTY -- Bandits burglarized eight homes in a subdivision in the Village of Rochester in Racine County early Tuesday, Sept. 10 -- stealing vehicles and other valuables.Officials with the Racine County Sheriff's Office said beginning shortly after 3 a.m., deputies responded to numerous complaints of burglaries, stolen vehicles, and thefts from vehicles.
