Police: 28-year-old Racine man suffered multiple gunshot wounds near 9th and Memorial

RACINE -- Racine police on Wednesday, Feb. 26 offered an update on a homicide investigation that began Tuesday, Feb. 25 near 9th Street and Memorial Drive.The deceased was identified as Demarcus Anderson, 28, of Racine.Police said he was found dead on the main floor of a building in the area, and appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds.According to police, on Jan. 6, the building "became the subject of a formal police problem-solving assignment" due to an increase in loud music complaints, parking violations, and other nuisance-type activity during private club activities.PHOTO GALLERYPolice asked anyone with information on the homicide, or activity during private club events should contact the Racine Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 262-636-9330.

Racine police: Search warrant in attempted homicide case netted guns, drugs, money

RACINE -- Racine police on Saturday, Feb. 22 shared photos of items seized when a search warrant was executed on the city's north side in connection with a Feb. 14 attempted homicide case.Police said an AR-22, an AK-47, and a .22 caliber handgun were located, along with a large amount of narcotics, and currency.Two males were arrested in connection with the warrant and shooting.No futher details were immediately available from Racine police.

Memorial service scheduled for officer killed in Racine Co. crash

WIND LAKE -- Funeral services have been scheduled for Jennifer Diener, the Racine police officer who died as a result of her injuries in a Town of Yorkville crash.A memorial service will be held Monday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at Norway Lutheran Church in Wind Lake.According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, Diener died on Feb. 16 -- one week after the crash which also claimed the life of a Mount Pleasant woman.

Prosecutors: Racine man decided to 'put down' potbellied pig due to difficulty obtaining permits

RACINE -- Misdemeanor charges of mistreating animals -- intentional or negligent violation, and disorderly conduct, use of a dangerous weapon were filed Monday, Feb. 3 against a Racine man prosecutors said shot his family's potbellied pig, Chester, with a revolver in an effort to "put Chester down" after experiencing difficulty obtaining a permit for the pet.Justin McKenna was charged in connection with the incident that happened on Sunday, Feb. 2 at a home on Kewaunee Street near Lincoln Street in Racine.Police responded to that home for a report of shots fired inside and found a mother and three children visibly upset.
