Police seek vandals who spray painted anti-Semitic graffiti on Racine synagogue

RACINE -- Racine police found anti-Semitic graffiti spray painted on to the Beth Israel Sinai Synagogue Sunday, Sept. 22.Police responded to the synagogue on Washington Avenue near West Boulevard shortly before 2 p.m.Officers found the building had been vandalized.An investigation was ongoing, and police were seeking those responsible.Anyone with information was asked to please contact police.

RACINE -- FOX6 News stopped by the Hiawatha Bar and Grill on Durand Avenue near Wisconsin Street in Sturtevant Wednesday, Sept. 11, where a mural was being painted on the side of the business in honor of Racine Police Officer John Hetland -- at a place where he was loved by employees and customers alike.Officer Hetland died protecting others.

2nd woman accused of abusing Racine group home resident appears in court after warrant issued

RACINE -- A second woman charged in connection with the abuse of a group home resident in Racine in March that was caught on camera was in court Wednesday, Sept. 4 for her initial appearance, after a warrant was issued for her arrest in August.Idella Anderson, 40, of Racine, faces one count of intentionally abusing resident, causing bodily harm, as party to a crime, and one count of disorderly conduct, filed Aug. 14.Prosecutors said the owner of the group home identified Anderson and Yolanda Williams, 48, employees of Love of Caring LLC, as those responsible for the abuse.

Officer fired at man 'pointing a compound bow' at police in Racine

RACINE -- A man, 43, was shot at by a Racine police officer Saturday night, Aug. 24, after police said the man pointed a compound bow at officers.Police were called out to the area near Erie Street and English Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance.Police said the officer, a five-year veteran of the department, responded to the threat by firing his duty weapon at the man in an attempt to stop the threat.The man was not hit, and there were no injuries.The officer was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation."I came out, all you could see was lights," said Timothea Cooper, neighbor. "It was way down there.
