We Energies: Power restored to thousands in the Milwaukee area

MILWAUKEE --  We Energies has restored power to more than 2,000 customers that lost it on Wednesday morning, December 27th.The cause of the outage is listed as "under investigation" at this time.Anyone can monitor the outages in southeast Wisconsin with the We Energies Outage Map.

PLEASANT PRAIRIE -- We Energies is closing its coal-fired Pleasant Prairie Power Plant in early 2018.Company officials said the economics of the energy market is the factor driving the closure, including low natural gas prices and the low demand for electricity overall."Retiring the Pleasant Prairie Power Plant is one of the ways we're reducing carbon emissions and reducing those costs for customers," Amy Jahns said.We Energies officials said they'll try to place all 158 employees at other plants.The Pleasant Prairie location has been open since 1980.PHOTO GALLERY

Starting pay is $17.64/hour: We Energies looks to hire seasonal telecollectors

MILWAUKEE -- We Energies is looking to hire seasonal telecollectors for a starting wage of $17.64 an hour.A news release says as a seasonal telecollector, you will be responsible for contacting customers, negotiating payment arrangements, issuing reconnection orders, educating customers on the collection process, and providing tips to customers to conserve energy to reduce their energy bill.

Power restored for roughly 2,500 We Energies customers in Oak Creek

OAK CREEK -- We Energies officials say they have fully restored roughly 2,500 customers that lost power on in the area of Oak Creek on Sunday evening, September 24th.Officials say the power went out around 7:50 p.m. The boundaries of the outage were Drexel Ave on the north, Ryan Road on the south, S. 13th Street on the West and Nicholson Ave.

Power knocked out to at least 5 homes after crash involving dump truck, power poles

MILWAUKEE -- Power was knocked out to at least five homes following a crash involving a dump truck and power poles near 49th and Keefe Tuesday, August 15th.We Energies officials said two poles were taken down, and lines to five homes were damaged.We're told repairs could take awhile, as it'll involve both the pole replacement and repairs to the lines to the homes.

We Energies crews called out to gas leak near 16th and Hadley in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- We Energies crews were called out to the area of 16th and Hadley Thursday morning, August 3rd to deal with a gas leak.Authorities were called out to the area around 8:45 a.m. after a contractor hit a service line.Some residents in the area were temporarily evacuated.

We have a winner! Charlie the top vote-getter in We Energies' Safe Digging contest

KAUKAUNA -- We have a winner!We Energies officials on Monday, July 31st shared a photo of the winning dog in their "Safe Digging" competition.The winner is Charlie, whose photo earned the most votes -- 17 percent of the more than 2,000 online votes cast.Officials said Charlie's owners, Breanne and Jeff Beyer of Kaukauna indicated Charlie is five months old and loves getting into mischief and digging in the yard!His dad is a landscaping foreman "so we have a lot of landscaping to tempt him," Breanne told We Energies.Charlie's dad's job also means the family is very familiar with calling 811 (Digger's Hotline) before digging, We Energies officials said.Charlie's "Safe Digging" ad will be unveiled at Energy Park at the Wisconsin State Fair on August 11th.He'll receive a basket of treats for his victory.CLICK HERE for more, including safe digging tips from We Energies.

We Energies update: Flooded substation knocks out power to parts of Burlington

BURLINGTON -- Flood waters knocked out power from electrical substation in Burlington Wednesday July 12th.We Energies has re-routed power to get as many customers back in service as possible.According to a recent We Energies press release, they are now working to get power back to the remaining 4,900 customers who are without service.
