We Energies proposes rate freeze; CEO cites Pres. Trump tax cuts as mitigating future rate hikes

MILWAUKEE -- We Energies officials are proposing a rate freeze for the next two years, and they're considering an even longer freeze altogether.The CEO of We Energies' parent company said President Donald Trump's proposed tax cuts could help when natural gas and electric rates rise.If passed, the proposed tax reforms likely wouldn't take effect until 2020, which is beyond the current rate proposal period.Officials are now waiting to see what happens before they take the next step.

We Energies pitching for a rate freeze in 2018, 2019

MILWAUKEE -- We Energies officials are proposing another two years without raising rates for customers, according to a proposal from We Energies' parent company WEC Energy.The plan is to ask the state Public Service Commission to hold base rates flat for Wisconsin customers in 2018 and 2019.The proposal is expected to be filed sometime in April.

Disconnection notices going out: Assistance is available for those behind on energy bills

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele is reminding residents that help is available if they've fallen behind on their energy bills because We Energies officials on Monday, March 27th began sending disconnection notices for those behind on bill payments.According to a release from Milwaukee County officials, there is an additional $1 million available for qualified Milwaukee County residents who apply for energy assistance during the month of March, which is quickly drawing to a close.“Starting on March 27th, We Energies will begin to send disconnection notices for those behind in bill payments,” said DHHS Director Héctor Colón in the statement. “For the third consecutive year, we are able to provide additional funding to help our residents in need of some extra support.

We Energies: 4,000+ customers without power along Milwaukee/Wauwatosa border

MILWAUKEE/WAUWATOSA -- The We Energies Outage Map indicates more than 4,000 customers are without power along the Milwaukee/Wauwatosa border on Tuesday afternoon, March 14th.We Energies is reporting roughly 2,900 customers are without power in Wauwatosa and 1,800 customers in Milwaukee.We Energies officials say a contractor digging near Hart Park struck an underground cable causing the outage.

Wauwatosa Fire Department: "No gas leak was found at Children's Hospital"

MILWAUKEE -- The Wauwatosa Fire Department along with We Energies were called out to the area near Children's Hospital of Wisconsin Wednesday morning, January 18th for reports of a possible gas leak.Wauwatosa fire officials tell FOX6 News they received a call after someone smelled gas in a parking structure at the hospital.When fire crews arrived on scene, they determined that there was no gas leak at the hospital or nearby areas.
