Elections board settles lawsuit over Governor Scott Walker recall lawsuit

MILWAUKEE — The state's elections board and the Wisconsin Club for Growth say they've reached a settlement over a lawsuit related to an investigation into Governor Scott Walker's 2012 recall campaign.Government Accountability Board Director Kevin Kennedy said Thursday, December 17th the deal ends the case and saves taxpayers money.Club for Growth attorney Eddie Greim confirmed that the agreement ends the lawsuit, but said his group won concessions that will affect how the GAB operates.The Club for Growth has said the GAB violated state law and overstepped its authority in a John Doe investigation into whether Walker's recall campaign had illegally coordinated with conservative political groups.

Democratic Senator Dave Hansen apologizes for retweet of profane, derogatory message

MADISON — Democratic Senator Dave Hansen has apologized to "anyone offended" by his retweet of a message that included a profane, derogatory reference to Republican Governor Scott Walker.Hansen said Tuesday, December 15th he was trying to share a tweet about new limits on political corruption investigations when he inadvertently posted the foul Twitter message that's derogatory to the governor and people with disabilities.Hansen says it's not the message he wanted to retweet.Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald on Tuesday called for Hansen to apologize, issuing this statement:

Governor Scott Walker hints that he may run for third term

MADISON — Governor Scott Walker is hinting that he may be running for a third term.Walker told to the state chamber of commerce in a speech Wednesday, December 9th that he will unveil ideas next month in his State of the State speech for listening to Wisconsin residents and business owners.Walker says the initiative will look at what the goals should be for the state and what businesses and people can be attracted here.Walker says he wants to work on that for the remainder of his term "or whatever terms I'm blessed to serve thereafter."Walker's current term runs through 2018.Walker told donors to his failed presidential campaign in September that he hadn't decided on running for a third term.
